Hi All!
I'm still busily working away on festival prep for Saturday. Everyday this week I've said this is the last day I'm going to the store, and everyday, I remember something that I need to get! I'm really feeling good about how everything is coming together though. I'll have lots of new art to share along with some "oldie but goodies".
I wanted to share a couple of pieces that I created that I'm going to be using for some signs.

OWLS!! I tried to resist jumping on the making birds train for as long as I could, but the owl broke me. I found this really great tutorial in the May/June Cloth Paper Scissors for making a wooden owl. I decided I wanted to see if I could adapt the tutorial for canvas or paper.
The two little birds above are made in a similar way as the picture I made for my brother. You can click here to read that post.
They are both 4"x6" and fit perfectly into a little frame. I used watercolor paper as the base and then created the background using scrapbook and cardstock papers. I created the owls & branches from scratch with pen and then colored them with copic markers. I then cut them out and glued them to the card.
I also created this really fun Jewelry stand for my bottlecap pendant necklaces.

I used my fingers & original stamps to create a lot of the texture. It was fun to get my hands messy again. Because I've been working a lot more with pen and ink, I haven't been into my paints as much, but I'm thinking I want to get back into that a little more.
Making this holder also has me thinking about possibly making more for sale. What do you think? Would you all be interested in something like this?
That's all for now. If you're in the area, I really hope you're able to come out to the festival. Don't forget it's going to be held at: Marc Train Station, 22 Main Street, Laurel, MD 20707 from 10 AM - 4 PM. There will be music and food and different art vendors.
If you're not able to come out, don't worry, I may have a special treat in store for you. ;)
